Sauger in a strip pit ? Has to be near Bluegrass cause of the flooding letting all river run fish in the pits there . Caught a small white bass while trolling on Loon pit the other day and have seen the silver carp jumping also .

Been fishing for the past couple of weeks before dark and fishing has been slow at best compared to past summers. Almost every bass has been fairly small. Started fishing a new pit the past couple of days but haven't caught any big bass yet. Caught a few bass this afternoon on a jig and yum crawdad and switched over to deep diving crankbaits and started trolling with my kayak. Ended up catching two sauger and both were decent fish. I only got a picture of the first and it was the smaller of the two.

I caught some nice crappie today and one little striper. I saw some big fish rolling on the surface but they didn't jump out of the water. Not sure what type of fish these were that were on the surface. But they looked like some type of carp.
I may fish a lot this fall because in a few more months those **** Asian Carp will over run the place.
I took picutures of two of the crappie that died and another group of pictures of the fish that were still alive in my live well. I drained the water down to where I could see them. Had to get rid of the slime in the live well anyway so I drained it and refilled it will fresh water.
I ended up turning the crappie to the lake as I didn't feel like cleaning them.
A couple of them were 12" long while one was 11" long. They were up in shallow water next to a submerged brush pile along a drop off. I've caught lots of nice crappie at this spot the last few years.

Private pit it is connected by a little culvert that connects to a small drainage ditch and then that ditch connecst to a creek/irrigation canal that feeds the Ohio. I guess the sauger swam upstream and into the lake. I am going to try catching some more later trolling
