I was fishing Taylorsville Lake for bluecats the other night and can't get over how many jug things are floating around. I caught and released a few small fish but kept thinking how many bigger blues would be swiming around in the lake if so many smaller fish were not caught. I know Ky Fish and Wildlife put some greatly need limits on the lake but i think alot of fish are still being taken out. Taylorsville Lake is not that big of a lake for that much pressure in my opinion. I think the lake has the potential to be a great blue cat lake in a few years but a 5-6 daily fish limit on blue cats would help greatly. If people have 50 jugs out how many fish do they usually catch? I have no clue because i have never jug fished. I am wanting to understand things a little better. Also how many fish die while on the jug lines? I have found jugs in the Ky river that have had dead cats on them from swallowing the hook. It is also aggravating to try to drift my lines from the back of the boat and try to dodge a few hundred jug things all over the lake. I am not trying to step on anyones right to fish but 50 jugs take up a hell of alot more room than one boat. I am wanting to see what other oppinions are on this issue and what might be done to make everyone happy and improve the blue cat fishing. These jugs also effect the Hybrid striper fishing. Any thoughts??????
That lake has been and is still being raped. I am afraid that it will not change until catfish get the designation of sports fish and the culture of "meat" fishing is curtailed.
