I am taking my in-laws down this next weekend to do a little camping, relaxing, and fishing. I normally fish for bass but my FIL likes Crappie fishing. He don't have a boat so I will be taking him around. He has never been there and I have only been about 1/2 mile either way of the state park campground. Were would be some good places to take him to try and catch him some crappie? I have a GPS and a map of the lake just wouldn't know where to look this time of year or even what to use for bait.
Thanks in advance.![]()

If you can afford a guide for 1/2 day here is a great crappie guide http://www.tomperkinsguideservice.fghp.com/I am taking my in-laws down this next weekend to do a little camping, relaxing, and fishing. Are you wanting to fish standing timber or brush?I am taking my in-laws down this next weekend to do a little camping, relaxing, and fishing. I'm not a crappie fisherman so I don't know which is better. I know where there is some standing timber is close to the State Park and know where there are a couple fish attracters are there too but don't know of any brush. what would be the better chances of catching a few? We won't keep any he just likes catching them. How deep should they be? Minnows or Road Runners? Should we run somewhere else besides around the park? If you don't want to put it out on the public board just PM me. Like I said , we will just be down there this weekend for some camping and a little fishing and bonding time.
Thanks,
Trans
I was fishing rough river a couple of weeks ago and we caught a few crappie on standing timber fishing about 8 feet deep with minnows. When I say a few I mean a few it was extremely slow but maybe this cooler weather will turn the bite on. I don't fish nolin very much so I hope this helps some.
I don't know about crappie but have seen some good jumps around the SP & thats what i would look for.......
