China will own 80% of a federaly funded US car battery company. We were sucked dry and shafted by an american CEO,But the jobs will stay in america? Global economy? american companys can only own or buy less than 50% of a company in China. We also helped Nissan with a massive loan for a plant in TN.How come nissan didn't pay for the plant? So america is going to build new high tech electric car batterys. But we wont buy the cars. But if the tax payers cough up a few billion, to build charging stations, will there be any american cars?

I listen to this story today on the news, the electric cars aren't going over very well. China said they would have 500,000 on the road by 2012 but only sold 5,000

what happened to GM's elecrtric cars

Several years ago there was a show that featured electric cars, and theit demise. The oil and auto industies had a big part in killling them off. The battery problem was on the way to solution, but special interests got involved.Maybe it would have worked, but we'll never know. Are any of you old enough to remember electric street cars? Also suburban electric trains? Its funny, but I remember walkin two blocks to catch a bus, two blocks at the terminal, and getting off in frankfort germany.
