A couple of questions about the Kentucky river at Boonesborough.

The GF and I had to take a trip down to Richmond the other day, so I decided to take a drive after we were through in Richmond. We headed out Red House road and went down to Otter Creek, which I used to fish quite frequently when I was a student at EKU. That creek is STILL beautiful and still full of fish! (Tip for fishing that creek: Head upstream from the bridge. ) I got out and checked the creek out for a few minutes. There's a great variety of shiners in there. Quite a few species of darters, too. Not to mention the largemouths and smallmouths. After observing the creek fish for a few minutes, I got back in the truck and we headed down to Boonesborough.

We checked out the boat ramp at Boonesborough. There were some folks bank fishing there, but they didn't really seem to be having much luck. So, we parked at the administration building up the road and walked down to the beach to check out the dam. Folks were bank fishing there, too. I couldn't tell if they were having much luck or not; we didn't stick around for very long

The water was nice and clear, at least clear for the river, anyway. The flow over the dam wasn't too swift.

There were signs in the park leading to the ramp that said that the park closes at 10 pm and that everybody should be out by then.

Does that apply to people who put their boat in at the ramp?

Do they lock up the gates at 10 pm?

Will you get a ticket or towed if you leave a vehicle parked inside the park after 10?

I've read most of the past posts about that section of the river, and am intrigued at the fishing possibilities that may be had there (muskies, hybrid stripers, smallmouths, largemouths, channel cats, flathead cats, sauger {what's not to love???}). Any answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm planning on giving it a shot tomorrow afternoon, hopefully. If you happen to be there tomorrow afternoon or evening, just look for The Blue Betty (my 10 foot blue plastic 2-man boat) and give me a shout!
