Don't be afraid to loose them. To many guys won't throw them where they'll catch fish. Get a square bill and hit some timber with them.
If not around timber and weeds, it's always good to be hitting bottom. If I'm not throwing a jig, then I have a crankbait in the water

i felt the same way until i started to use them and nothing else, got a feel for them now i have one tied on and laying on the deck of my boat at all times.
Try trolling them at 2 to 3 miles per hour. You can catch everything on them. Catfish, crappie, bass, muskie.
We trolled for 2 hours Sunday evening and caught 7 catfish, 20 crappie, 3 largemouths, 2 white bass, and one yellow bass. That was with four poles out and jet skiers and pontoons trying to run over us.
I agree with fishnut, I have thrown cranks more this year. Mine were collecting dust and I decided to start using cranks more I forced myself to fish them and I now have confidence in the crankbait.
I ALWAYS have one tied on. I throw it no matter the time of year or where I am. It is one of my confidence lures. I have hundreds of them, I only throw certain ones at certain places. I could sell alot of them & never miss them, which I am thinking about doing.
