Mostly Libertarian beliefs, but 90% republican since I hate to waste my vote. Generally, I distrust politicians of any stripe.

I'm registered Independent and I rarely ever find any candidate that I think is worthy of my vote on either side.

I'm not a believer in voting for the lesser of two evils if it means voting for something that I fundamentally oppose.

Sometimes I do vote the straight anti-incumbent ticket, though.

I have voted for many Democrats before due to believing they were better for the job. An example would be Beshear over that Pompeus ass David Williams in the most recent Gov race. Come on Waterdog, we are deeper than that....

Good point! It's not always just voting in the POTUS election that we are talking about. I guess I'm learning more and more about myself by reading and actually taking in what some of the Liberal minded fellow fisherman think on this site. I don't always agree and try my best not to get personal because after all we all have opinions.

I mean we have managed to make a living with either party in power and the sky hasn't fallen with the 'Community organizer" in charge but he isn't what we need. I mean really??? Why can't people see that we needed a leader not a puppet. He has broken alot of his bull-crap promises to get elected (they all do) but he gets a pass by the Liberal media and that pisses me off. He spent Trillions...anyone can spend money!! But it's OK because Bush made him do it......I guess if he was treated as any GOP member in power I would feel folks are being real and open minded but he gets very little criticism and tons of praise for stuff he didn't do. Plus a Nobel Peace Prize??? What??? He was the man of "change" and what has changed? Well we have Obamacare looming over our head, an economy that's stagnant, gas prices as high or higher than before he was elected and on and on.

Anyway, I won't beat on him anymore in this post but I dislike just about everything about this man plus I think he is a sorry excuse for a leader. You lead by example and he never led anything but a community dinner event. Ok now I'm done.

Excellent post, DJ! This brought to mind something that I should clarify: I have voted for Republicans, but never in a presidential election. And as one of your liberal counterparts, I'd like to respond to a couple of your points:

"We survived Bush, you will survive Obama" is a saying I've come across and really like. I made a post several years ago about how politics is like a pendulum; it swings back and forth from one party to another. It seems like one party will control for a while, then the public gets tired of the excesses of that party, whether it be tax-and-spend by the Democrats or Puritan social values of the Republicans, and then we vote them all out and go with the other party, only to vote them all out in a few years. The good thing is that the whole "sky is falling, this country is going to come to an end if we don't get rid of this president" has never come true, although it's probably been said of every president And I agree that Obama isn't really what we need. But I really don't think Romney is, either, and I'm not willing to vote for him just to get Obama out of there. For one thing, when it comes to social issues, he and his vice-presidential nominee are both way too far to the right for me.

Anybody blaming Bush for Obama's spending has their head where the moon don't shine. The only time I do think it's fair to bring Bush into the discussion is when people throw out the deficit numbers, and act as if Obama got us there, as if he had inherited a surplus.
