I'll see if this works. Here is a screen shot that I grabbed off the SDHC card out of my Humminbird.
It should show a regular 2 D view of the screen combined with the new Lake Master Map of the Bluegrass Pit in Warrick County, IN
These fish are suspended out over open water. The In-Fisherman Crappie Wisdom Book refers to this as "confined open water".

I'd tell you if you asked. LOL But that's pretty funny.
I'd be doing the very same thing if some one else posted a picture like that.
But I'll let you in on a secret. I went to Otter Pit and all the deeper basins are showing the very same thing. It's driving me crazy trying to figure how what kind of fish I'm seeing on the sonar screen.
Here is what I did. I trolled crank baits though these schools trying to match the exact depth of the fish. It's not as easy to do without the dive curves for the 700 series bandits. I don't have any 400 bandits and the Precision Trolling Book doesn't have the 700 series dive curves. I'm assuming that the 700's will dive quicker and a little bit deeper.
So what I did was troll with different amounts of line out behind the boat.

I didn't catch a single fish doing that at Otter.
Now at Bluegrass I felt a solid hit when I got 200 ft out but when I reeled the line in there was nothing there. I guess the fish got off or I was imagining things? I think it was the former not the latter.
Remember that the Arrow in the picture is pointing to the NORTH. If that helps. I'm thinking it's on the West side of the Pit but I'll have to double check it on my depth finder.
I took the SDHC card out of my Humminbird as it was full. I had a few too many long recordings on it. As well as over 75 snap shots and a few trails or tracks that I saved.
I'm not familiar with the file structure so when I tried to get some more room on the SHDC card by deleting the Recordings I must have not deleted all the recording files. The card still shows as being full. If I deleted the recordings there should be a lot more open space on the card now. But it shows still being full. And it's a 4 Giga BYTE Card.
I want to stick a 8 G or 16 G card in the Humminbird but then I'll have to figure out how to transfer all my way points and snap shots from the 4 GB card to the new 16 GB card. If not I'll be out there flying blind with no way points on my unit.
Paul I'm finding a lot of brush in that area where you and your wife were fishing last week. I very seldom go down there until I started trolling. Now I travel the entire length of the pit almost every time out.
Otter is a hard pit to figure out. its a great pit early in the year. i was there sunday and caught some crappie(small)
I'll have to start pitching small jigs in the flats where the grass grows. I heard that's a good way to catch them and locate them faster. I've used that in the past to find some of my go to spots.
Darn goose hunter was hunting over my favorite fishing spot Saturday.
They need to keep the fishermen and hunters separated before someone gets shot or hooked in the ear.
