Just put my favorite boat of all time up for sale. Thanks Obama, and a do-nothing congress. Good news is, if anyone wants a really good deal on a Ranger you can check out the boats for sale on here. I hope whoever buys her loves her as much as I did.
Man, sorry to hear that.
Really Sorry......Maybe you can sell it to someone who will sell it back in a few months.....HOPEFULLY![]()
I'm so sorry to hear that too. I hope you're not giving up fishing. As far as Obama goes, NO MORE YEARS, NO MORE YEARS.
Triton I'm in the same boat as you so to speak...I have a very nice cruiser that I'm putting up for sale sometime between now and the end of the year. This is what Obama has done for me...
Thinking of getting rid of mine also. down sized because of bush, but I've only used my boat 4 times this year. I was blaming it on arthritis, but then I realized,My arthritis has gotten worse since that SOB has been in office.Or maybe its old age,NAH, its obahma!
Sorry to hear. When a fella can't do what makes him happy it just stinks.
OBAMA IS THE DEBIL...Said in my very best Mama Booshay voice..
Old age ain't got nothing to do with me finally deciding to sell...the economy is a factor for sure. Not had a raise since 2007 but taxes, insurance and food have all risen quite a bit...plus the fact that my tow vehicles ain't getting any newer either. The wife and I are doing ok, could be better for sure, but we don't live beyond our means so we're ok.
But above this..it also depends on where a man is at in his life, what was important to him at age 45 may not seem as important to him at age 50 so to speak...which also has a little bit to do with my decision to sell.

I gave up fishing because of medical problems when i was in my mid 50's (had a back problem and just couldn't spend any time in my boat), I kept the boat for a couple years then sold it and then had to have the surgery which went really well for me and after I retired I bought another boat and changed my fishing style, can't chase bass anymore but found out it wasn't the fish i was after so now I get to fish a couple times a week and enjoy it as much as I ever did.. I didn't get bitten by the economy so was fairly lucky there, I have found out it is as relaxing as it ever was, I wish you guys who have gotten in a financial pinch all the luck in the world and hope all works out well for you.
Bush didn't hurt my family enough, to where I have to sell my boat. but my wife has worked all her life, and Bush Junior took enough from her 401k that she could have bought me a new boat. my friend, I hope Arthritis, Bush, and Obama leave you alone.
I often wonder which feels worse.
1. Having the boat sitting in the driveway, going few times a year because of health, costs, and tow vehicle age.
2. Or not having it there and not having any opportunity to go, save with a guide. This second option feels bad to me for another reason.
Option 2 is the cheapest avoiding the maintenance costs, repair costs, insurance, gas, batteries, tires, and tow vehilce costs. I guess I'm just goonna have to put pen to paper, compile all the costs, and see. Maybe chucking the boat and all the costs, will pay for 5-6 guide trips a year, and let me spend more time on the motel porch at Jamestown watching pretty sunsets thru the bottom of a longneck.
Sundowns look so much better thru the brown tint of a longneck telescope!
I've had a boat of somekind or other for over 50 yrs. I wont even try to figure what fishing has cost me. But I loved every minute of it.
Excellent posts made by all...
Hurricane Bob...I did the math a few years ago. Taking the guided trips are less expensive, plus the quality of fish are better too. All in all just an over all more enjoyable trip, at least for me anyway.
At one time I had three boats...a big river style 19' Jon-Boat (sold last year), this Searay cruiser that I'm about to sell soon and a little 14' v-bottom with a 20hp Johnson for the Cumberland River. I will not sell my v-Bottom, ain't gonna toss my waders in the garbage either. But all in all I guess I'm grasping onto a "less is more" mentallity. Tired of keeping up with the different tax bills, the maintenance and everything else that comes along with owning more stuff. As I mentioned previously...times change and so do people...that was then, this is now....and NOW that flyrod I have is looking better each day, lol...
