I know what took place on the democratic floor last night does not represent ALL democrats. But judging from most of the democrats I know personally I think a large majority of them are of the same mind set that was represented on the democratic floor last night.
Truly sickening...truly sad. Truly unbelievable how ANYONE could support such a party, this opinion being based upon what took place last night.
Not sure if it's true, but I heard on the radio this morning that all three votes ended in a "No" to mentioning God, but the party leaders went ahead with it anyway.
So which is worse - the party doesn't want to mention God, or the leaders don't care about the Democratic process and will do whatever they choose?
The whole thing stunk...no doubt about it...
But let's remember that they were voting for 2 things:
(1) Include the word "God" in the party platform, which for some reason had been removed. ???
(2) Recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on the party platform.
It wasn't 2 separate votes - It was 1 vote, yes or no, for both.
The "NO" votes were at least 50%...maybe even the majority. The chairman called it a "YES" after three attempts anyway, even when there's no way it was a 2/3 majority. (aka - This whole convention and verbal voting thing is just a political masturbation and means nothing. However, it sure was a PR gaffe by your delegates!)
I'm curious if it was more about NO to God, or NO to the Jerusalem/Israel position? One would think that the two would have been verbally voted on separately. I'd like to hear the delegates stance on each, exclusive of one another. I say that because it's not like religion wasn't present at the DNC - There were prayers, invocations, and plenty of references to God and religion. I'm sure that we'll hear plenty about it going forward. The GOP has seized heavily since last night in making it more about the NO to God issue, a bit less about the NO to Jerusalem issue.
The whole No to God thing really isn't surprising, given the ridiculously extreme politically correct environment that liberals try to live within...and it's not like this administration has been a big friend to religion anyway. What I think a lot of people are missing is that supposedly Barack was "shocked and surprised" that the word "God" had been removed from the platform. "Why on Earth would that have been removed?" he supposedly said. My question to that is: DID YOU NOT READ YOUR OWN PARTY'S PLATFORM BEFORE IT WAS RELEASED? Sounds like a true no-show Senator that doesn't even read the bills.
I might can understand the desire to not make a stand on Israel, especially since Obama went on the Arab Apology Tour early in his candidacy and wants to be spineless on any kind of stance against Iran. The God referendum is a total backfire though. Never should have been removed in the first place. PR disaster.
On a different note, Slick Willie gave the speech of his life last night. Nobody can say that the Democrats don't know how to speak to the people.
Yea but that speech was up against the NFL opener to, LOL.....
Nice thoughts Brian and well stated.
IMO the democratic process had been broken for a long time. The government is run by career politicians who pretty much do whatever is politically expedient to keep themselves in office. In large part they get away with it because so many American citizens have come to believe it's the government's job to take care of them. Not sure if it's true, but I heard on the radio this morning that all three votes ended in a "No" to mentioning God, but the party leaders went ahead with it anyway.

As to God, progressive liberals have been trumpeting their deep religious convictions in speeches while working to eliminate any trace of Christianity since the 60's. These days many politicians all but scoff at Christianity and fall all over themselves to praise Islam.

The Muslim/Islamic faith is rapidly multiplying in this country....Please don't under estimate this. I'm not saying you are under estimating it, I'm just sayin' in general that no one should under estimate the growth of this group that is taking place in this country. It's happenin', believe me...it's happenin'.
That's what democracy looks like.
Fox News showed a still picture of the teleprompter where it already was scripted for him to read the vote was affirmed. Was a charade.
I think the Democrats are acting like a dog chasing its tail. If they voted "No" to mentioning God, WHO did Rabbi David Wolpe pray to when he delivered the benediction at the DNC? By the way, Wolpe was the Rabbi for Monica Lewinsky's family for decades. Maybe the good Rabbi did some praying for Bill Clinton. I read this morning that he sure did stretch the truth in his speech. Why am I not surprised? lolNot sure if it's true, but I heard on the radio this morning that all three votes ended in a "No" to mentioning God, but the party leaders went ahead with it anyway.
