Good point. Most that promote the drill baby drill position do not consider RD for alternative energy sources. Drill baby drill is just not the long term solution, would help in the short term (depending on were the profits go). Any lease of lands for oil drilling should be based on a royalty payment. The oil on federal lands belongs to US citizens not BP.

Second we need to keep a lot of this oil in reserve. The have been a lot of countries that have depleted a natural resourse and paid the price later.

Once again there has to be a multi effort. Each side has to acknowledge the benifits and short comings of all positions and try and use the best of both.

Need to get away from this "my way or no way" mentality.
