I joined at age 20,my step dad was career. Lot of pleasant memories, forgot all the BS. 8th Inf div.

I joined the same week I turned 18, back in 1971. was classified in Holding position. when your young, you see things different, as you grow older you see why wars are really fought. and I'm glad it worked out for me as it did. and wish you the best.

My departed wifes grandson joined after high school. He's had three mid east tours, two afganistan one iraq, now in japan. My brother and I were "guests' of the government in early 1945, at wendover field utah, for a classified reason, we watched from the hills around the base as they launched the first captured V-2 rocket fires in the US. We enjoyed going to the mess hall with the "sarge" for breakfast, right after the war ended, we went back home, he retired in late 47.He went to utah after serving in the aluetions.
