Congrats to you and thank you for your service.

I'm reminded of a little ditty my Uncle Joe (Korean war vet) would sing.

Soldiers that want to be heroes
    Number practically zero
    But there are millions
    That want to be civilians.

    Awesome. Congrats and thanks!

I was a few short paces from the recruiter's office myself right out of high school, but got some scholarship offers for college and ended up staying a civilian. I was being chased around town by the Navy recruiter to go into a program for engineering on a Nuke sub. Things turned out alright for me, but sometimes I regret not having served my country.

I know how you feel. I felt the same way 32 years ago when I enlisted. There will be rough times and there will be happy times. I only remember the happy times now. Good Luck!

I joined the same week I turned 18, back in 1971. was classified in Holding position. when your young, you see things different, as you grow older you see why wars are really fought. and I'm glad it worked out for me as it did. and wish you the best.
