First Timer at Guist Creek

Hey guys, I'm heading out to Guist Creek this Friday. It will be my first time there but I've heard good things. Just wondering if anyone had any tips or warnings. I was just planning on fishing shiners and drop shotting most of the time. Any help would be appreciated.

Fishing shiners you should get bit. From what I've heard it's been slow but Guist has a way of responding to cooldowns like we're having.

I've fished Guist Creek several times in the last couple of months. It's been slow, but I have managed to catch a couple of 4 lbers. Before the cool down, fish were suspended under shad around 15 ft over the deeper areas of the creek channel. Last week, they had apparently spread out. I didn't chart as many fish in the areas I had seen previously. I caught one dink on a worm. If you are in a boat and make a left from the ramp, and the first right after the no wake zone buoys you are heading toward the dam and the deeper water. As you go up a ways, the channel runs fairly close to the trees on the right side. There is a point where the lake turns to the right heading toward the dam that drops off pretty fast. That area was holding bait and fish. The lake has hybrids. You might hook up with some with Shiners. The steep rocky banks get pounded really hard. Good Luck.

I never have fished with live bait there but I think a good place to try would be to the right of the marina in front of the docks. The channel runs right out in front of them and I always graph schools of hybrids in that area. The only real danger areas would be in the creeks (especially the backs) and two points that can be shallow at times. The first point is across from the marina turning into the ski area and then the point at the turn towards the dam (also in the ski area). But unless the lake is really low, then you should be fine. Hey guys, Thanks for you insight and help and sorry to be so late on the results but it was definitely slow there. I was fishing from a jon boat so I was basically fishing where I thought looked good. I didn't have access to any electronics. The best luck we had was back by the dam where we caught 4 hybrids nothing of size though. We also caught a catfish and I actually had a first time experience catching a bluegill on a 5 inch worm drop shotting, that's when I knew something was weird. I feel like I threw everything from my tackle at them with not much luck. Nothing even on the shiners. A couple of times it looked like something was about the hit (shiner would go crazy) but then nothing.

Anyways I thought it was a nice body of water I would definitely like to give it another shot.
