    preserved bait

I just ordered some preserved pan fish bait, crikets was worms and meal worms, does anyone here ever use them? Since I moved into an apartment, I dont have a bait refrigerator, like I used to have. I've already been told[at the top of her voice] that she is afraid of ALL bugs, worms, what ever.I've used all there baits live, and was told they work just as well .

A few years ago, while in Quetico chasing really big smallies, we passed through a lake that was loaded with perch and nothing else. We threw everything in the WORLD at them, and simply could not catch them.

Finally, one of the guys had a 10 yr old package of preserved night crawlers. They smelled gawd awful, but hey, they were organic. We found a couple small hooks and used a stick for bobbers, and proceeded to POUND them. We used all the night crawlers and caught 25 or so quality sized perch. We only harvested a dozen or so since there were only 4 of us.

Man oh man, they were the BEST perch I've ever had. Literally they went from water to knife to pan within an hour or so.

Organic bait is no longer allowed in Quetico, but if it was, I'd DEFINITELY be taking the preserved stuff.

    LOVE IT.

    Later,

    Geo

    perch

That is the best tasting fresh water fish there is, bar none!Lake michigan had some fantastic jumbo perch fishing, 10 to 13 inch perch were common. The bigger ones were caught using shad raps, but you never knew what would grab one of things. SMbass, and rainbows. They would congregate by the nuculear plant near south haven.
