It would be great if every law abiding, mentally competent citizen had a gun. In Switzerland that is the case and they have a very low violent crime rate.

I seldom post internet links and this one is very easy to find but I thought it was appropriate... It doesn't seem Switzerland is number one on the gun ownership list, we are it seems by maybe a 2 to 1 margin over those folks , why are our crime rates so high if gun ownership is the answer? This data seems to be a few years old but I suspect it is still fairly close.

Heck no it wouldn't be great if everyone had a gun! Its great that we have a choice and that's the goal and our right. We should all have the right to choose what we want to do (within the laws)without some elected officials telling us we are to stupid to do for ourselves. Seems to me that the Fast and Furious scandal that this administration was deeply involved in was proof that gubment folks should just stop trying to fabricate facts about guns and gun crimes. I guess they do it because a population of folks who can't help themselves from thinking they should make decisions for others are always looking for another form of control.

Look at it this way......if everyone had a computer they could get on fishin.com in a drunken state or age induced dementia and post for the sole purpose of stirring the pot or they could stalk others via private message because they feel so empowered by the fact they are not face to face. Like i said they could.......not naming anyone :-)

Now why would we want to see that stop?? They have a little fun and giggle like children besides its their right and if they stay within the rules let it FLY! :-)

Lots of folks own a gun in the states, but most folks own much more than just one. There are way too many folks that don't own guns in the states to make it an effective deterrent to crime. Do you think a fool is going into the Dairy Mart and hold the cashier at gunpoint if he knows 1/2 the folks in there are packing.

What Tim_T should have said....everyone own a handgun and CARRY it........Yea baby.

    Later,

    Geo

    -Enter Dairy Mart
-Fire one shot in the air, then hit the deck.
-Let everyone in there shoot each other.
-When the shooting stops, clean out the register and everyone's wallets, being sure to take all the guns too.

and it's probably why their population stays so small......

    - When somebody shoots their mouth off, they really do.
    - If she and he both have guns, their kid would be a "son of a gun".
    - Hey, when they get loaded, they don't have to "shell" out for drinks.
    - Those people are all of high "calibre".

    TADA!!!!!!
    - Now you know why Swiss cheese has all the holes in it.

Bob, you need to end your post with "Thank you, I'll be here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitresses and bartenders!"

There's a book titled "My Daddy was a Pistol and I'm a Son of a Gun!" It's out of print now but you can still find a used copy on Amazon or Ebay somewhere. There was a lot of similarities in my childhood and the author of this book childhood....or at least I could relate to some of what he wrote anyway in reference to his union workin', beer drinkin', gamblin', fishin' and huntin' dad.
