    current report

Just got off the phone with a friend and his buddies and they have been in some good striper jumps this morning between low gap island and otter/beaver on the main lake. yesterday was terrible for them but with this mornings action being good it makes me think that the late evening jumps may be good today.

Sunday Nov 4th. Fished in Fishing Creek. Anyone that believes fishing creek is the dead sea for stripers this time of year would be wrong. We marked a ton of fish there. Most were hovering around 20 feet deep that day but several times the whole screen glowed from 20 feet to 50 feet as we passed over a school of stripers. The constant weather changes seems to have given them lock jaw though as we only picked up 1 24 inch striper. We also had 2 other rods go down and the bait pulled off but no solid hook ups.

As for the stripers leaving that end of the lake. The information I was given was that around mid-July the stripers do follow the cooler oxygen rich water and slowly migrate down towards the dam until mid-September when things start cooling off and then migrate back up. So late summer when the water is hot, Fishing Creek is the dead sea when it comes to stripers. Mid-October to mid-July you will be good to go.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like my luck on the West end. Can't seem to find much of anything over 24 inches. Hoping things improve after the lake is raised back up; no more fish kills due to high water temperature and low oxygen. In the interim, fish on.., but thinking more SM and KY's will get my attention. As for the SM, going to spend next week at Dale.....

Has anyone heard anything new about the dam? Are they going to allow the lake to raise an extra 10 ft next year to see how it is holding? Just curious. I'm hoping that the dam repair nightmare is coming to an end.

    Great Jumps

Went Thursday evening to the main lake at Campbell Landing and just after 5 p.m. central time we had 2 big jumps come up about 30 yards apart and they stayed up for about 30 minutes for the best action we have seen all fall. We caught several fish and came home with 6 nice keepers, it was just awesome! Friday morning just above the oil slick in Otter Creek we got into another good jump and hooked up with 5, landing 3 keepers. Saturday morning, today, a friend of mine got into some good jumps in greasy creek near the marina and limited out. I would guess this front will hurt it over the next week but I have a feeling that we may still have some good jumps coming in November.

I sure picked a bad time to be at the lake for work. I had planned to fish Tues, Wed, Thurs morning. We'll just wait and see now.
