M-hall said it best when he said" preseason rankings are as useless as @@@@ on a boar hog. They are for hype and the novice fans". 11-25-2010 in the wow mills thread

Also, I think the experience theory was kind of put to bed last season when UK finished the season #1 in everyone's poll.

Besides, isn't it still football season in Louisville?

It is football season at Louisville, but since this is the bye week, we can talk about basketball for a week.

While I agree preseason ranking are fairly useless because they are based on projections, I disagree that UK put the "theory" to bed last season. One time in the history of basketball doesn't actually end all those other years and it also doesn't negate the fact that Anthony Davis-type players come along about once every 30 years or so.

Also, when Vitale says he is basing it on returning experienced players, he means all the key players in a Final Four run, not a bunch of players from last year on a team that sucked.

Really wasn't being completly serious Tim. Just not ready for football season to be over considering that my favorite football team is gonna turn the season around and shock the world. Still not serious, but it sounds good anyway. GO BIG BLUE

If I had my way, it would be football season year 'round, but unfortunately where I live, it is not the case.

As for UK football, there is talent at a few key positions, but they have no depth whatsoever and some of their key players are not as good as advertised. I really like Max Smith as a qb (not as much as I like Bridgewater) and I think Josh Clemons, if he could ever stay healthy, could be one of the best rb's in the college game. But I am not sold on LaRod King as a wide out and nose tackle Mister Cobble has been a huge disappointment in my eyes. I was really disappointed when COACHWHOSHALLNOTBENAMED didn't recruit him, but now I am glad.

I also like Max and hated to hear his season is over. I think there is alot of young talent and they look as good as most of the older more experienced guys. If anything other than upsetting a team or two will save jokers job, I think it will be the potential of those younger guys and a good chance for a winning season next year. I think joker needs at least one more season before he gets the ax. It's not like there are hall of fame coaches knocking on barnharts door wanting a job anyway, and I don't think joker is on top of anyone's list either. What's it like having a football coach that other schools want to have?
