I know nothing about sauger but Taylorsville tail water area is the most fishing-friendly area I've been. Very nice facilities there.

i was told in the winter months people catch sauger below the dam. Ive never fished for sauger before so i figure ill give it a shot sometime. I also want to try the ohio. Is there bank access down there where i can actually get to the fish? I know its early but any helpful info or tips would be great...... thanks

It is funny, Taylorsville spillway is the FIRST place I fished here in Louisville, when I moved here from Iowa 23 years ago. When I first caught a sauger there I thought it was a walleye, and was dumbfounded. I had no idea what a sauger was. I did know walleye though, and I was SURE it would eat just fine.
When someone told me they were sauger, and they were abundant in the Ohio river, I started to learn to fish the falls.
Yea, they are abundant, and YEA they eat just like a walleye.
Later,
Geo
