Ah, what's $444 Million among friends? Just cut something else.PBS got $444 million from the govt. last year. That's <.001% of the federal budget. But it's about 40% of PBS's annual funding. They wouldn't go out of business without it, but it would sure hurt. And I think we're getting plenty of bang for our buck. I think we can find other areas to cut spending that will do more good for the budget without degrading something this valuable.
I'd hate for the executives at PBS to lose federal funding and not be able to continue their $1 million+ annual salaries. (President of NPR cracked a nut of over $1.2 Million in 2009.)
So, keep donating your $25 to "Save Big Bird" on their little telethons. Keep writing your Congressman to keep that funding rolling in. It's all about learning and the kids!

I like the NPR radio programs, and think they will stay on the air without Government help. on their fund raiser last week they said, it cost 165.00 per hour to stay on the air.Ah, what's $444 Million among friends? Just cut something else.

165.00 per hour X 24 hours a day = 3,960.00
3,960.00 per day X 7 = 27,720 a week
27,720 a week X 52 =1,441,440.00 a year
they must have a lot of people making a very good salary, to eat up a budget like that. this leaves a lot of money left over from the Governments 444 million, and this is only 40% of what they have to spend.
