    Observation

Went to one of my fav small lakes for some awesome weather fishing today! Saw a few things that were just wrong and feel like saying something about it.
Pulled into the dock to unload my boat and could see that a tourny of some sorts was getting done. I sat back and got my boat ready and waited for everyone to get their rigs out of the water. I THOUGHT they wouldmove out of the way, very small launch area, but one by one the last 3 clogged the whole darn ramp. Looked at me waiting, but started bsing with buddies. I understand wanting to talk and stuff, but come on....show some respect!
Number 2: i get my boat in water and see everyone dumping their fish bags. I ask how they were etc., and walk down to where i just saw them dump the fish. A few of the fish were floating up and not looking to good. I understand fish die, but come on This person Gave ZERO effort to make sure fish were good to go. Is it just me or is that also just wrong? I grabbed two fish and moved em around and they took off. Did that with 3 more that were laying there belly up. All swam off. Just needed to get this off my chest. Im not confrontational, so i didnt say anything to anyone, just went about my business. Just sad to see such crap when all you want to do is relax and fish.
Just needed to vent this, im sure some people think this is no big deal, or others agree with my frustration.
One side note, seems most of the folks caught just one small fish. Made me feel real good that i did much better......hahaha

Goes to show you that there are some ignorant folks in every sport, age group, gender and walk of life. Common sense and respect are things that you don't find in people as much as you used to.

Yep...saw a similiar thing while on a smaller body of water yesterday. Couple guys took their bags and basically tossed the fish out into the lake off the dock. Fish seemed stunned for a bit but swam off eventually.
Guess those guy's didn't get in the money so the fish they had didn't matter enough anymore to put back in the responsible way.
I've been upset after some tournaments as well but made sure the fish I released were ok and swimming off because I know I'll be back at that lake at some point.
    Oh, well.

Never belonged to a fishing club or participated in a fishing tournament, but have had half a dozen or so similar situations resulting from being at a ramp at put-in or take-out time. Couple of my issues at the ramp were total BS, and in one occasion almost resulted in an accident involving my wife (without so much as a "sorry" or "didn't mean to get that close"). I know there are many folks that participate and do all of their efforts in a courteous, respectful manner to non-participants but this (disrespect for non-participants) is not a rare occurance. I would just expect that the organizers of the tournament enforce common respect for everyone in the area and the proper handling of the fish. If they don't take the lead on it then their entire tournament/ club will be judged by the improper, rude actions of a few. A fisherman disrespecting another fisherman is pitiful. Again, I know this doesn't speak for all but only a few.

I keep hearing tournament fisherman get blasted for the lack of courtesy/respect so I'll share something I had happen this weekend, twice....I was fishing a small tournament Sat morning, fishing a spot where I was off the bank quite a bit...Had two older guys in an aluminum boat coming right towards me, attempting to go between me and the bank...I throw my bait out the same direction I'd been fishing as they approached, and they ran over my line...Had I been able to reel in fast enough I would have put my bait in the boat with them.....Fishing the same spot about an hour later, two different crappie fisherman start workin their way towards me....I keep right on fishing the same way I'd been fishing and within 5 minutes they're within a cast of me, and drop anchor....Had my trolling motor pointed their direction so I just kept right on fishing until I was nearly on top of them....It's not just tournament fisherman who have this massive respect issue

My pet peeve is when you're trying to back in a trailer after dark (at a 2-lane ramp) and somebody is in the other lane with their headlights on. And it seems like they're on bright most of the time! LOL

I guess they don't realize how difficult it is to see ANYTHING behind you when being blinded by headlights.

You're right, I don't think any one genre of fishing is more disrespectful than any other. There are @------$ everywhere.

When tempted by revenge I try to remember the following verse. Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord. Romans 12:19

As for ramp etiquette, I'm a firm believer in a five minute rule. There's no reason why anyone would need to be on a ramp for more than five minutes to load or unload a fishing/bass boat. (if there's someone waiting)

like this guy, where he is parked is a no parking area so you have room to turn around. the kicker is he was the first guy at the lake i was the second, he had the whole parking lot and still parked in the no parking zone. i could only laugh.

I have experienced this several times with people fishing bass tournaments. Some of them act like because they are in a club they own the ramp and lake. I have had several boats at Taylorsville on Friday nights run way to close to me and the bank. I get really tired of people acting like that. I have thought about following them and when they start fishing running back and forth by them causing a good wave for a while. I also thought about buying a sling shot and shoot sinkers at them as they go by but always end up not being an ass like them and just shake my head at them. I saw one Friday night the bass people pulled some of their just right above the ramp where it took people a very long time to take out because they were in the way. Just because someone pays to fish a bass tournament or has a 30,000 $ bass boat don't give anyone the right to act like they are better than others fishing. Alot of the wiegh ins I saw most of them can't even catch any fish!! Maybe that is why they act like that. Not all they guys are like that but some are real asses. People need to really think about respect before go fishing. People acting like that really makes me hate bass tourmaments. Just my thoughts.
