Fished Cumberland the last three weekends in tournaments out of Conley Bottom... water is 65 - 68 on main lake and gin clear. Been taking 10 - 12 lbs to win. Very tough bite. Need water temp to come down alot. Smallmouth haven't come up yet but should be getting right @ November.
Thanks Mooseknuckle. I was hoping the bite would be getting better by the time we get down there next weekend. i'm assumeing the bass are suspending if the water is that clear and the temp hasn't dropped that much. I was planning on useing topwaters, spinnerbaits, rattle traps and crankbaits. But I may have to go to swimbaits, floatnfly, drop shot and deep diver crankbaits. But there is a cold front coming through next week. So I guess I'll just have to see when I get there.
Just got in from fishing. Bass do not seem to be relating to bank struture as best as i could tell. Pounded the banks for six hours until i decided to try spooning channel bends 25'-30' and managed a few fish. Wind made it tuff to stay on top of them though. Good luck.
Thanks Ruffneck. I'm guessing you were vertical jigging a hopkins type spoon. I'll try a little george too. There is a cold front coming at the end of this week so I'm not sure how that will affect the water temp by next weekend. I was looking at the sat map of the lake. it looks like the southern end of the lake toward the dam looks to be prommising but I'm not too sure on this lake. With the water level where it is I would assume most of the structure would be rocks and ledges. And maybe try fishing some of the docks. I won't get down there till next thursday and I can't wait.
