    WoodCreek Fall Fishing Tips

Myself and a few friends go on a semi-yearly fishing trip where we rent a cabin, play some poker and have few beers along with fishing. This year we are staying on Wood Creek Lake again.

Last time we stayed near the dam and had almost no luck with bass (saw a bunch in the clear water but they seemed to laugh at you when trying to put a bait in front of their noses). We ended up going after catfish and bluegill and did well enough to eat.

We are staying up in one of the creeks on the upper end of the lake this year. I have searched and read every thread referencing this lake and didn't see any info or tips on fall patterns for bass, only spring and summer.

Any thoughts that you would be willing to share about general location and bait/colors that work well (worm, jig, crank, spinner, swim, ect.) that would steer us in the right direction would be appreciated.

I will report back on what we used and how we did so if anyone searches in the future, they can reap the benefits of our experiences or laugh at our failures.

Anyone have experience using prepared catfish bait on this lake? I've heard pickled pigs feet and turtle testicles are good cat bait on this lake. Any opinions on whether or not this is accurate? If so, where can I get a can of turtle balls?

Well, I found them. A nice member here PM'ed me and said he had what I needed. I drove all over trying to find the place. Ended up in Hima off Pawpaw rd. and got the goods. All he had was a used jar (apparently they are hard to come by unless you know the right people). He said it didn't matter that the jar only had a few balls left in it. "All you need is one" is what he told me. We'll see. Looks legit. Should I be concerned with salmonella with these?

You will have better fishishing up the creeks. I never fish past the marina. Fish up the middle creek or the one to the right of the marina. Fish any down trees or any thing that looks thick. Dont be afraid to get hung up. They should be in the backs of the creeks.

Thanks man. The weather looks like it might make it tough but we'll see.
