    Down Imaging Electronics

I've been looking into Humminbird 500 series fish finders with down imaging. Not real worried about a gps/chartplotter. Just want a fish finder. Anyone have one of these? What do you like/dislike? I have a 14ft jon boat, so I don't get into very big water very often. Weight in and let me know what you have. Would like to purchase something this winter sometime. Just looking for real world feedback, and these units look to be in my price range. Thanks!

I placed a 797 sideimaging unit at the helm when they were first introduced and this past season replaced the sonar on my trolling motor with a 570 that has down imaging. The 570 isn't color, but the images are clearer than my older 797. Down imaging will give you a clearer image of what's below the boat than sonar - I wouldn't ever go back to 2d sonar.
