Oh no. Not the "it's in the Bible" argument, lol.

It's clear I'm outnumbered so I'll leave it here, I think it would cause in the long run the same issues that alcohol does. Once you open up that box you can't just close it. I absolutely see it as a negative revenue wise, because everyone here knows it would bring a shitstorm of new laws and regulations. Also what's to keep Joe q pothead from buying his pot in Tn or other States? Oh I forgot, we can just serialize each bud and defacing said# will be a crime.

I'm done here, smoke em if you got em. Now you can join in my new thread/discussion on Why killing babies is murder, period.

Such an angry young man, LOL......
Dude you are out numbered for one reason and one reason only.............YOU ARE WRONG.
Chuck see's this crap everyday in my opinion that gives him ALOT more insight then you on this subject. Alot of people experimented with a little pot and didn't go on to be crazed maniac Circle K robbers and murders doing LSD and Meth. In fact MOST left it at that and moved on or it never caused an issue. I'm not much of a copy and paste guy but there are countless studies out there that have proved that Marijuana is not the evil path to destruction. Gathbreath had great ideas for Hemp as a cash crop..................True Hemp has NO THC and WILL NOT get people high. It's other values and uses are endless. But numbminded folks can't see that. You could smoke Hemp until you died and all you would get would be maybe a headache, lol.

Well this subject gets me fired up. My daughter started smoking pot in high school. We confronted her and told her that pot wouldn't be enough for her and she would be more willing to try other drugs. She laughed at us and said she would never do those "other" drugs. Well she quit cheer leading, she quit softball, she started dating stoners. Everyone of her boyfriends have done time in prison or rehab. She never graduated from high school. She moved in with her looser boyfriend when she was 17. We didn't see her very often for a year even though she lived a mile from my house. We started hearing that she was in bad shape and when she was 20 she finally came home. She had been high on Meth for a week before coming home and hadn't slept in a week. My little girl was dying in front of me. She couldn't help herself. I told her that she needed help or she would die or go to prison. While she was away from us, she had her door busted down by the police twice. She had just left both times. The first time, they were watching her house(it was a foreclosed house with no power), she was pulled over as soon as she left in her car. She swallowed the drugs she had on her and was let go. She could have O.D.'d but by Gods grace she was just high as a kite. I was able to get her in rehab 1 1/2 yrs ago. She came out clean and is clean to this day. She is paranoid about any drug or alcohol now, thank God. She came home 8 months ago and told me she was pregnant. I'm going to be grandpa! I am so thankful that she didn't go to prison or die from her drug abuse. I know everyone will say my daughter was different and that everyone else can handle it. Think what you want. I know how it affected my family. Many tears over the years. The not knowing when you go months without hearing from her. It was a nightmare! Here is a picture of her the day I took her to rehab and then a picture after the drugs were out of her system. No, that is not acne. Pic marks from Meth.

Scott it broke my heart to hear you tell that story and I feel for you and your family and am very glad there is a happy ending. I do not feel we are all talking about the same thing here but I do understand your stance and why you would be very against it.

Your daughter is very pretty and the enthusiastic genuine smile at the end says it all. Great luck and God Speed to you and your family and congratulations on being a grandfather. Make it work and best wishes friend.

Unfortunately this is a all too common story. Sounds like your daughter may come out of this stronger than before, and that she has a family that loves her.

This agenda of some is a very slippery slope

It's all about choices. Marijuana is no more of a gateway drug than a tylenol suppository. Just because Nancy Reagan says it's bad doesn't automatically make it so. My dad busted me with a quarter bag during my 5th year of college. He told me I was going to end up like my uncle Mark. Well I smoked with my uncle Mark many times and he's now dead. His life wasn't the greatest, but that was his choice. When he busted me I had about a 3.9 GPA in one of the better schools of pharmacy at Purdue University. Now I'm surrounded by drugs every day - I could lift all the Oxycontin's and Opana's I want - IF I WANTED TO. There's simply no reason for me to do so. It's almost like "guns don't kill people........"

I smoked the stuff like a madman back in the day too.

It did get me in trouble twice with the Ky Fish & Wildlife enforcement. Twice they busted me for smoking while out fishing.

I'm much more lazy these days than I was back then. It was like the pot made me want to get up and do things. I never watched nearly as much tv or spent as much time on the computer when I smoked that chit.

My wife loved it because I would smoke some of that stuff and a hour or so later the house would be spotless the grass mowed and she said I wasn't as much of a D**k.

Oh great.....It's already difficult to get coherent directions from locals in the state.

I can just see the headlines now: "Today, 37,000 Washington State Citizens drown in the Pacific when they were just darn sure they could walk on water to reach Hawaii".

Say what you want about how bad pot is for you compared to alcohol, tylenol, or placebos, but the driving factor behind this particular legislation is that prohibition has been, in the words of the former U.S. Attorney who is backing it, "an abject failure." So why keep repeating behavior that has never worked up until now? Some people call that insanity. And I would say this: marijuana is a gateway drug largely because it is illegal. If alcohol were illegal, and you could only get that from a "dealer," that would lead people into other drug abuse (more than it already does). If you were buying pot at the liquor store, and getting carded to make sure you were over 21, the guy selling it to you wouldn't encourage you to try some cocaine.

Again, what I thought was most interesting about the article was the fact that it wasn't the usual cast of players pushing for legalization. This time, it's actually the law enforcement community saying it should be legalized.

While i can honestly see both sides of the story, I question a few things

TimE, you say that the people you know that smoke pot are lazy, don't have motivation, and don't get things done? Have you ever wondered if maybe they were just worthless people to start with? I know a lot of people who don't smoke pot that fit your criteria. And before you start your mouth, know that I'm not a coughhippiecough, a pothead, a stoner, or a geezer that smoked the crap back in the 70's....I've known a lot of people who smoked the stuff, but it was never for me...Some who smoked it showed the traits you described, but they showed those same traits when they were sober....They were lazy....i've also known some who functioned fully in their everyday life, and weren't lazy, got things accomplished, and had motivation high or sober

Have you ever wondered if marijuana is a problem simply because it's taboo....In this crappy world we live in, some people do things just because they're illegal

Again, I'm not saying I'm for legalizing the stuff, just think you're putting a serious stereotype where it doesn't belong....Not all people who drink are violent or go on major crime sprees...If you want my opinion, the biggest problem we're fighting now is COMPLETELY LEGAL prescription pain pills...

And just for the record, if I'm going to be involved in a car accident with an impaired driver, I'd much rather get hit by a pothead going 35 than a drunk doing 70
