Tyme, thanks for the big smile that picture gave me. a man ain't a man, until he gets himself a dog. I have a 12 lb female Shihtzu, she can't sing. but we sleep together, go cruising around in our jeep Wrangler, go to the lake fishing together, heck we even eat together. I love her like shes a child. we are best friends.
It's been a long time, too long, since we've had a dog in our house. Big Dog is on a permanent loan from our truck driving son. Big Dog is about 8-9 years old and a pure bred rabbit chasing beagle.
There is something very special about raising a dog from a pup but this dog has adapted very well to living here. He's had only one accident in the house and that was when we first got him. I don't sleep late like I used to as I know the dog needs to go outside. I attach a twenty foot leash to him whenever we go outside. Once his nose hits a scent, his brain drops out of his head and lands on the ground somewhere and I don't want to lose him once he starts an earnest run. He gets plenty of exercise with the leash and that's helped me to loose 15 pounds!!
We don't crate him,but he is put into our downstairs bathroom at night with the door left open and a kiddie gate installed. He always greets me in the morning with his tail wagging and eager for that first romp outdoors.
We've kicked up plenty of rabbits here and I love to watch and listen to him when he's on the scent. I will visually track the rabbit's path and that dog does not swerve an inch when tracking bugs.
My dog and I used to do a killer version of Muscrat Love...but since he got neutered, we haven't been able to come to an agreement on who sings the Captain and who sings the Tennille.
this is my little friend, she is without a doubt, the smartest dog I have ever known. sometimes I think she knows every word I say to her. she has the kind of hair, that she don't shed. and is one of the worlds best, house broken dogs. and loves to go to the lake as good as I do.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isQDQE-D4Q8
Good stuff fellas. I love my Lab Maxx. Just like waterdog said I feel the same way about Maxx. he is with me so much that we just seem to know each other. He goes to work with me and it's amazing how I'll be working in my office with the door open and I'll hear him walk to the door and look to see if I'm there and if I need a break I turn to him and he comes running up and gets in my lap. Of course since he weighs 72 lbs I only let him put his upper body on my lap but it's great. Dogs at work are awesome.
I take him fishing, hiking and even to my Bootcamp Class. I take his collar off when we are at home so when i'm ready to go somewhere i ask him "wheres your collar?" or just toss my hands up in the air like the gesture of "i dont know" and he takes off to find his collar. If he comes back without it (i put it in different spots all the time) ill say go get it and i swear the look on his face is priceless. He is so intense and excited and hops around until he finds it. The fella has it made and from the sounds of you guys your buddies do as well.
My girlfriend has a few cats and Maxx chases cats...correction used to! He ran at her big 18lb white cat and he just turned and looked at Maxx gave him a pop in the face and waited for a response...hahaha Maxx looked at me like what the hell??? They are buddies now.

My lady friend wanted a puppy, I didn't. When you get to our ages you wonder what will happen to them if we pass on. She lives for that dod, part schitzu part carin terrier. When ever I put on shoes, shes at the door, ready to go.She talks to the dog all the time, I just spend most mornings looking up her butt, encouaging her to poop! Every morning I get the cold nose greeting, telling me its time to walk!
You and I just agreed on something...How bout that....Tyme,thanks for the big smile that picture gave me. a man ain't a man, until he gets himself a dog.
