Bill oriley[?] said whats wrong with us liberals is "we want stuff" Who dosn't? My list of "wants" would take all day to write down, my list of "needs" that are realistic, is pretty darn short.

Bill Oriley, must be a Liberal also. I agree with you, it's human nature to want stuff. but really, Old Bill is one of those that think, he should have everything, and the rest should do without.

I didn't see the show or read the quote you guys are talking about but most of the times I have seen or heard him......he is saying if you want all this stuff how do you pay for it. Is it fair to continue to he to take from others and give to others? Who said that's allowed? Seems like theft to me. Why is it that it's ok to do that? Does anyone really think that everyone who receives anything for free really deserves it?
    MY
Its a constant battle with some of you and either you don't have the capacity to understand that it's not right to keep taking from people who work hard for what they have or your just wired to believe you deserve more than you worked for. I don't remember a valid point from some of you (not some Obama quote) that explains how it's fair??

I have a theory and in fact have read and heard this as well.....the mAjority of young folks vote Dem because they want want want, college attitude and teachings lean left plus they have not been in the work force and seen how tough it is. They graduate, grow up and start earning stuff, having kids, striving to keep most of what they earn for their families and vote conservative. When they get older and retire they vote Dem because they want as many programs as possible to take care of them even at the expense of others.

Im not saying its wrong I'm saying its what I believe. Of course there are exceptions to that theory but I think it's human nature. I also think that the Dem party knows this and targets this idea.

    define

what are wants, and what are needs. I worked for everything I had, after the needs were met, then came the wants. Some of it was selfish, some not. The money I spent on parochial education was pretty heavy, some college tuition was also brutal, but what wqere those, wants or needs? I don't get commomoditys like some of my neighbors, I dont want or need a free cell pnone.I spent foolish amounts of money for wants.I was thought to believe that there is no "free lunch", and the world dosn't owe me a living, is that liberal or lefty? yet I belief the NEEDS of the people should be considered. This stupid party ideology isn't helping america. Those guys who signed that norquist manifesto, are SHEEP

That's right, it's should be a crime to bare falsies. I always feel like I got ripped off when strippers do that.

Focus on the product, not the advertizing.

Read that sentence you wrote....sounds like a conservative to me. Problem is, many in your party have not been able to separate the "wants" from the "needs." Many of your political brethren have the two confused. I want an Iphone, but I have to settle for my old flip top phone that is 7-years-old because that is all I can justify paying for. My daughter's neighbor, a single mom with two kids by two different men, has a better phone than me, while my wife and I pay to feed her kids. This is not a rare occurrence or statistical anomaly, you see it every day. You don't seem to have a problem with that, while others of us do.

    no i'm not

I'm not in favor of give aways.Welfare cadallacs piss me off.I mentioned wants and needs.Wants are what drive any capitalistic system. Needs are entirely different.Water isn't a want, untill ypu have enough capitol to spend a lot of money for designer water[stupid]Is food a want? Sure after you get enough money to eat beluga caviar, dog food suffices for a few that can only afford that. There has always been a disparagy between have and have nots, ALWAYS.And then along comes this guy who tells us that we should treat others as we like to be treat6ed, what a bunch of bull s--t right?Do we have a moral obligation to look after the poor, heck no!Then explain to me, if life has such sanctityor lack of it, who cares if thousands of unborn are killed. whats the difference, let them live in poor health, squalor, and hunger, so that we can feel good about it.I believe it was in the "brothers karamasoffs [please forgive the spelling] where the question was asked, "what would happen if Christ came again? the same darn thing as the first time.

but there are good things about it, like valid two opinions, not that my way or the highway.

I think there lies some of the disconnect. Do we have a MORAL obligation to look after the poor? I believe we absolutely do.

Here is what the question usually means in this day and age: Do we have a LEGAL obligation to look after the poor. I say no we do not, yet we are forced to do so.

I also think poor is a relative term in this country.
