What lure do you use for saugerSauger and hybrid are running in the morning. Caught a few hybrid in the 4-5lb range. Caught a lot of sauger that were 2-3lbs. Biggest sauger was 20.5 inches and weighed 3lbs 14 ounces. Been hitting the river in the morning at sunrise. Catching them on white and green.
Few guys I talked to said they were running again right before sunset, but I have not fished there in the evening hours.
If you guys don't mind sharing are the sauger up by the fossil beds or by the hydros right now? Planning on going Monday morning.
We caught them in front of the Interpretative Center.
fishinfreak: If you're fishing from a boat, DON'T EVEN TRY to motor up to the upper dam if you are not experienced and very familiar with the river and it's dangers and the correct course to navigate to the upper portion.

Thanks for warning me but I'll be fishing with "The Man" and he's familiar with that area. We've fished up there a few times this summer for catfish.fishinfreak: If you're fishing from a boat, DON'T EVEN TRY to motor up to the upper dam if you are not experienced and very familiar with the river and it's dangers and the correct course to navigate to the upper portion.

We were fishing right down from the museum on the rocks. We were throwing 3inch white grubs followed by a 3in chartuesse shad. There is a statue coser to 65 and it is right next to the museum, that is where we were fishing. Good luck, I will be there monday morning bank fishing. If you see two younger guys in all brown bibs fishing there, that will be us.
