The "Big Discovery" on Mars was that they discovered nothing. Rocks, Dirt, and nary a cricket to chirp...no organic material.

Unless they can drill for some oil up there or can find some lost episodes of Bonanza on VHS, I maintain that billions have been spent for "purty pictures" of Mars that could have been spent elsewhere...like rebuilding some of America's aging and dilapidated infrastructure.

I agree....unless the Bonanza episodes were on DVD.

Hey, lets send the next expeditionary mission to Walmart.

I've seen similar comments along these lines that much of the space exploration stuff is a waste of time/money/resources. Disagree. There have been a number of advances in GPS, satelite imagery, cell phone communication and a host of other areas that have tangible application here on earth. Neglect of this type of research is, in my opinion, short-sighted.

You're not allowed to disagree with me, bro. Am I going to have to report your post to a moderator? LOL

I've seen the list of cool stuff that has come along by way of research from the space program. Many are things that have improved life on Earth. I get that. And honestly, I agree with you that neglecting research efforts is short-sighted thinking. The problem for me is that we're in hock up to our corn holes to the Chinese and there are so many other things that could be tended to in the short term with that money. I also know that in the grand scheme, those millions on the space program are almost insignificant...you would have to group up a lot of things that we spend money on, not just the space program, before it would be an amount significant enough to make big differences in some of the areas where we are defunct. Short-sighted or not, I still find it hard to shoot millions of dollars to Mars to dig around in the Martian dirt, on the hope that something huge will be discovered. Maybe we'll be able to say that it was the best thing that mankind has ever done some day, but right now...it's just purty pictures.

They may be giving us time to prepare for this information.

My wife thinks they have found a Ron Popeel vegtable slicer.

I think it is more significant than that, perhaps they have found a 1956 VW that still runs.
I think the guy on CBS news tonight, said they will report something on the discovery on mars, Monday night on the CBS news.

Winning doesn't mean your untouchable...at least not in my world. You still made the mistakes and you still have to answer to your critics and you are still responsible for your actions. Btw way I'll live with anything that the wise gubment leaders make us do. You better hope they don't come after your money harder than they do others.....you being a rich white guy and all.

China owns less than 10% of our debt....we're NOT in hock to our corn holes to China.

Foreign governments hold about 46 percent of all U.S. debt held by the public, more than $4.5 trillion. The largest foreign holder of U.S. debt is China, which owns more about $1.2 trillion in bills, notes and bonds, according to the Treasury.

We are actually in hock to good ole AMERICANS.......

That's close enough to corn hole for me...LOL...

Bottom line, we owe China (and a whole lot of other people, foreign and domestic) a whole bunch of coin.
