Dionysius Exiguus
Bet you never heard of him before. I hadn't either, until I saw an article about the Pope's new book where he says that our calendar has Jesus' birthday off by "several years." Dionysius is the monk who set the dates for Easter and Christmas. An old article, but an interesting read about the history of the Gregorian calendar.
