Crankbait setup question

Quick answer.....BPS Crankin Stick. Cheap and gets the job done just fine. You don't need high dollar rod for crankin. Spend that extra money on good line and a good reel. 6'6'' - 7' med action for shallow to medium diving plugs and 7' - 7'10" med. heavy for deep divers. Depends on what length you're comfortable with.

Everybody has pretty well hit the nail on the head.....If you're going to be throwing big crankbaits (DD22, SK 6XD, Manns 20 or 30+) you'll want a long (7'6-7'11) MH rod.....If you're throwing a squarebillls or bandits or mid depth cranks, a 7'-7'6 M action would work well....If a crankbait is something you throw a lot, then you could look at a higher dollar rod, but if not I'd look at something along the lines of a BPS Crankin Stick....They're a good bang for the buck rod...Make sure you get a crankbait specific rod, they're a little softer and more forgiving so they don't rip the treble hooks out of the fish....Make sure you hold a rod before you buy one, as they all feel different to different people....They have different handle lengths and some have more of a parabolic bend instead of bending more at the tip

I also agree with the other two posters. As bad as I am beginning to dislike Bass Pro, their crankin sticks are pretty good cranking rods for the money. Additionally, I think they are on sale for $20 off the regular price.
