had a canoe (also bought used) and it was about the same issue but i did not have a statement of origin. it was a coleman canoe i called them and gave them the serial number of the boat and within a week i had a statement of origin. also like u said there was nothing filled out. took it to the clerks office and she said that was all i needed to get a title. after i titled it it could be licensed. if u have the current registration sticker and a title ur good. but if your told her an electric motor dont get caught with a gas motor on it. the registration is higher for gas

Thanks again for the help, guys. I have the paper with the number and the blue sticker but I don't haven't bought the stickers yet to put on the side. I am not even sure where to buy them to be honest because this is the first time I have done something like this. Is there a certain kind that I should be looking for? I don't suppose the state sends them with the title, do they?

The KDFWR link below has the regulations and info you're looking for:
http://fw.ky.gov/pdf/2012fishguideboatingindex.pdf

Registration fee for boats propelled by an electric motor = $9. That would include canoes. I think they throw another couple of bucks on top of that for some sort of environmental fee, which most likely goes to Al Gore

The number assigned, and no other,
shall be displayed on the bow, or forward
half, of each side of the vessel, read from
left to right, and in a position to be distinctly
visible. The letters and numbers
must be of a plain block design, at least
three (3) inches in height, and of a color
that will provide maximum contrast to
the background (light numbers on a
dark hull or vice versa).
There must be a letter size space between
letter and number groups:

OK I will get those sticks on and probably take the plunge and get out and about this weekend. The weather is supposed to be nice around here and who knows how long these mid 60s temps will last.

LOL. NO

You can buy the each or kits at Lowes or Home Depot. Each are .68 and the kits are cheaper per but you may have to buy 3 packs if you got a bad break on the numbers. If you were in Lexington I would tell you to go Acme signs and get a better quality for $14.00.
