We braved the cold Tues/Wed mornings. Limited out in 45 min Tues and only one Wed. Trolling shiners 2/3 of the way back in a creek in 40-45' of water and 25' of line, 1 oz sinkers. Most fish right around 24" long.

Do you have to have use a down rigger this way or just tie on a 1 ounce weight? In other words what the setup consit of?
Duayne answered the question. If you are a beginner striper fisherman and can brave the cold this is the best time to get after them. Shiners are easy to keep alive, not much special equipment needed, no fighting the summer time boaters, etc, etc.
Gotta find new place to fish after they close off the best spot, below the dam
Back before the die offs started, my buddy and I got into some good sized white bass back in Greasy. We caught them both burning and lift dropping Flitterbaits. I was hoping they were coming back good but these last few years might have slowed them down some. My theory is that when the lake is allowed to come back up, the whites will be able to run up the creeks further and find more suitable spawning grounds. We'll see I guess.
