Do you have to have use a down rigger this way or just tie on a 1 ounce weight? In other words what the setup consit of?

Duayne answered the question. If you are a beginner striper fisherman and can brave the cold this is the best time to get after them. Shiners are easy to keep alive, not much special equipment needed, no fighting the summer time boaters, etc, etc.
