    No more bouys now Law!

Here is an email from Wade,

We won a huge victory today!! The two year moratorium to stop the Corps of engineers has been signed into law! They can not place any more buoys and they can't enforce any placed down. Great victory thanks to everyone who has worked to make this happen!
Go fishing and enjoy the freedoms we have, they are so precious!

    BOUT TIME!

Great News! Since no one could get the attention on the COE, nor Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, Jo-Ellen Darcy, the Senate has used the BIG STICK. So do they (COE) here us now, you betcha!! Senate got them by the balls....

Much thanks thanks to Speaker Mitch McConnell and the Gentlemen from TN; Sen Lamar Alexander, as well as other members of the Senate for their efforts in reining in the COE.

Don't forget to give thanks where thanks is due. As Peter suggest, take time to make that phone call, send that letter or that email to all those elected officials who have stood up for the fisherman and against the COE on this issue.

The arrogance of the COE knows no bounds. Good to see them get brought down a notch every now and then.

Senate passes bill stops river barricades

Breaking news senate passes bill stops river barricades

U.S. Senate Passes Bill To Stop River Barricades
    May 15th, 2013 @ 06:14 pm › Laker Country

Washington, DC – The U.S. Senate passes bill which contains Senator Mitch McConnell’s measure protecting access to critical Kentucky fishing waters. Senator McConnell’s legislation prevents a move by federal officials to barricade portions of the Cumberland River near the Barkley and Wolf Creek Dams. The federal barricades would negatively impact local Kentucky communities that rely heavily on fishing and tourism business.

McConnell’s bill was included within the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), which passed the Senate a few minutes ago. The measure stops the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from installing physical barriers that would block fishing access to the tailwaters of these dams, limits the Army Corps’ ability to designate “restricted areas” to times when operation conditions create hazardous waters-rather than 24 hours a day-and gives states the right to enforce public access to these areas.

“Many Kentuckians are struggling in this economy and the last thing they need is the nanny state shutting down a critical local resource. Many in our state have depended on these waters for years and it’s outrageous for the federal government to make such a decision with complete disregard for the people affected most directly by the policy. Blocking fishing access to the tailwaters of Lake Barkley and Wolf Creek will not only rob fishermen of a beloved pastime, it will also impair tourism in the area and negatively affect the Kentucky economy,” Senator McConnell said.

Last month, Senator McConnell met with local elected officials, anglers and local residents at Lake Barkley to hear firsthand their concerns regarding the Army Corps’ plan and was told that the proposal to install barricades and to block access to areas which are popular with anglers in Kentucky would have a major impact on the communities near the Barkley and Wolf Creek Dams. McConnell took action because the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, without cooperation or explanation, continues its plan to block fishing access to the tailwaters of these dams

That's great. Give all these elected officials a call, write or email.
