    Strong staying put

Well the deepest pockets won. I never figured Strong for a money guy but I guess I was wrong as usual, lol. Close to 4 million and one of the top payed coaches in the country. Jurich said it back in the summer, that if it come down to money he had it covered. I guess being the top grossing athletic department in the country does help sometimes.

I wish we knew more details, but it is what it is I guess.

I guess I'll take greed over him leaving and disrespecting a program that believed in him when he was nobody. Don't like either of those choices really, but it is what it is. We still have him and that's what counts. On the positive side, the whole "is he leaving" controversy made him more of a household name nationwide, which can't hurt recruiting.

Where is Louisville getting the money and justification to pay him so well? I guess the taxpayers of Jefferson Co. who are keeping the Yum center afloat were the key players in this.

    WRONG AGAIN...
Louisville was the number 1 grossing profit athletic department in the nation last year. Translation, they made the most money. Since theAthletic department stands on its on two feet with dollars earned they have it to spend. That isn't that hard to figure out is it???

BTW, The Yum burns like cheap whiskey in the mouth of most all UK fans but its slated to turn quite profitable by the end of this fiscal year due to huge named acts and shows already on the schedule. A project as big as the Yum center was not going to pay for itself in one or two years and was not just a UofL project but one that WILL be quite profitable for the city as well.

    Hate on....LOL

Hey Michael maybe if you start going to the UK football games again now that Stoops is coach you can help UK's athletic department catch up with Louisville's..

Jurich has made athletics at the University a MONSTER, Everything from Volleyball to Ping Pong is over the top and making huge national strides, its public record, check it if you don't believe me..

I was joking about Ping Pong though, LOL..

It's not as difficult to be profitable when you have a sweetheart deal on a taxpayer funded arena.

Uh I still don't think you understand. Louisville's athletic department posted profits last year had very little to do with the Yum center which is considered a seperate entity in itself other than attendance. Actually post season play by almost all sports, litterally almost everything, coupled with HUGE over the top trademark sales is what drove the bus. Also Football makes the athletic department way more money then basketball does.

Corporate sponserships have always been good but are now at an all time high due to national sucess in mens and womens athletics. Jurich is paid the top AD salary for a reason my man......

I wondered if the Strong to Ewe-Tee thing was a money-seeking deal and now we have our answer. People are motivated by different things, but money seems to play a role in so many of these coaching deals. Good for Charlie.

Now, if those Louisville fans would be as passionate and supportive in droves like the Big Blue Nation, Strong would have everything marked off his Christmas List. LOL (I kid, I kid...don't everybody get all butt-hurt.)

Oh, and no heartburn or jealousy from me over the Yummy Center. I think it's great. Nice venue. Good place for NCAA Tourney Games that will be like home-crowd games for Kentucky sometimes, like Duke and North Carolina get every year in their regions. Good for the economy too.

I'm a Rupp Arena fan, have been all my life, and see no real reason to burn it down and build a new one. I hate the atmosphere for cupcake games, but it's a raucous place for marquee games. I think it could be a lot better, but that's another thread for another day.

Doesn't Louisville feel a bit foolish paying him that much money when his resume doesn't deserve it? If they had that much in their pocket, they could have gone after somebody really, really good.

Dude are you serious....Who is a better choice that would actually take the job right now..Who?

Also he took a completely DESTROYED product and has it in a BCS bowl game in three short years. Will they get killed by Florida, sure they will but he still has them there. Also he is recruiting his tail off and is getting butt loads of three and four star kids with Teddy being the anchor and has more than proven himself as the Five star projected athlete from High School. Most of the time Michael you make great sense, but this last statement makes you look foolish, not the University of Louisville. It's a pay and reward system....You pay and you get the reward. Financially I bet they don't loose on this but will make money. I to think these salaries are just crazy stupid I agree man, but it is the world in which we live Bro and it isn't gonna change anytime soon, only going to get worse.
