I guess we will have to wait until the end of February or the Start of March to begin fishing again. I think that they shut down parts of Patoka for the winter.

I use to hunt ducks when I was in college but that was many years ago. But I went down to Hoveys to hunt.

I don't have my goose decoys anymore as I gave them to my mom's neighbor after I sold my shotgun and got married. I've got access to a Good Shotgun now but don't have any decoys to use. And I'm too old and tired to get up at 4 am to go waterfowl hunting in the bad weather.

You might call up to Sugar Ridge and ask them to do a study to see if there are enough fishermen to help change their policy. Perhaps getting a petition signed and taken to the Property Manager to see what he can do. I'm sure he's got rules that he has to follow for management of the property. Even the Director of Fish and Wildlife has to answer to the Natural Resource Commission or the Governor. Good luck as I too would like to fish in Dec or Jan if it's warm enough.
Bluegrass sees more hunting pressure when Hovey freezes up but the hunting is a crock up there. With the middle lake being a refuge(which is good) that leaves the two other big pits open for hunting. Then they close those down 3 days out of the week including sunday and only let you hunt till noon on the days you can hunt. So for working stiffs like me I can hunt up there on saturday mornings and that is it.
