Here in Louisville, water is too high and fast!
Jason,
I grew up in Henderson, Ky. which is on the Ohio River. The sauger fishing there can be on fire at times however, it takes clearer water to do really well. If you intend to fish from bank, the Newburg Lock and Dam is your best bet on the Kentucky side of the dam. I never fished from a boat there but, if it is bright skies the boaters tend to do better with access to deeper water. The boaters tend to fish along the lock wall. I always fished the eddy created by the dam and a long retaining wall. The only draw backs I see are the as follows:
1) Water clarity
2) Water depth-low is best
3) Trip length-@90 miles to ky side from Bowling Green
4) Boat access-have to launch from Newburg IN
5) Combat fishing-no secrets in fishing-the colder the better
6) Water varation-Mighty Ohio can change fast
