...I been the same way about this. My facebook news feed is flooded by this so I just scan past it. My friends and family talk about it so I kinda move past the conversation. Not weird just know what most are gonna say before they even say it.

Smile yes I voted for him!

But I dont agree with all his policys. I didn't vote for bush, but I likes his afganistan approach, hated his iraq strategy.I liked mccain, years ago, but when he chose a ditz to take over if anything happened to him, I think that tumor did more damage than he knows.I think it was 1947 when my got my[shoot yer eye out] daisy bb gun[couldn't get them during the war]15 when my got my single shot 12 ga, 17 when I got my wing master. 20 when I got my owm M-1. same age when I got my 30 cal.carbine. 20 when I got to use a 106 reckless rifle, and 21 when I graduated to a 50 cal. on an APC . after I graduated from uncle sugars school of hard knocks, got a great 3 inch 20 gauge pump shot gun,Along the way other firearms were mine. I'm not against gun control, but I sit back and wonder what the hell good is an assault rifle? When I duck hunted or pheasant huntes, we were restricted to tree rounds[practical also fed reg], the thinking was first shot hit em, second shot if neeeded finish it. Third shot, applause on a clean get away. Trying to cure mental illness? hah! we cant even cure clap anymore. I'm pretty sure I'm sane, but I'm hearing voices about you!

There has to be something we can do to help prevent these tragedies other than just telling the government to let us keep our guns.

Crazy people are CRAZY.......institutionalize them.........and be done with it. A few billion a year should suffice.

There no place for mentally ill to go. Most of the mental institutions have been closed over the years to save money[state and federal].

What about the movie theater shooter? I can't remember if he had mental illness issues or not. I think we can agree that people who would do this sort of thing have to be crazy, but do all of them exhibit serious signs of it prior to the incidents?

My Mother was a Lab Tech for Central State Hospital for over 30 years. She did alot of work to help the mentallly ill and even had some dealings with the criminally insane in that fenced building in the front by the road. There were some really bad people housed there. I say all that to give some form of semi-educated through her of course answer to your question Michael.

No not always are there warning signs, in fact there are some cases that just came from no where that was not forseen in any way. However given said that, MOST there are major warning signs. I forget some of the statistics I have heard her speak of pertaining to the criminally insane but usually someone down the line seen the signs and heard the threats and either ignored them or brought it to the authorities attention only to have it fall on deaf ears until something really tradgic happens.

I agree with this, but warning signs do not equal mental illness. What I'm saying is that not all of these mass shootings have happened from someone who was diagnosed as mentally ill.

I will go back to my suggestion that if we started holding family members criminally liable for the actions of these murderers they might take the warning signs more seriously and put a stop to the tragedies before they start.

Would you be suggesting the parents of adults such as this young man, I think I saw where he was 20, be held criminally responsible for their actions?.. Would that not be opening a very large can of worms... It seems to me we have enough people already going after the folks with deep pockets in the court system simply because the legal system allows them to.
