The constitution and freedom be damned, if you're rich, the government should have the power to take however much of your money they want.

(BTW, this is the same government that maybe 12 to 15% of Americans trust and believe in. Man, those honest and trustworthy politicians in Washington, DC are going to finally make it all better for us.)

What percentage of their income should the rich pay the government? 40? 50? 60?

Exactly what tax rates are the Democrats proposing?

What happens when the rich don't have enough to pay for the government 'services' those of us who are less fortunate are entitled to? What happens when they start digging in your pile of manure? Think you'll still be calling for more and bigger government?

Come to think of it the federal government is about to scoop deeper into my tiny pile of manure starting in January. (see the beginning of this thread) I'm not rich, what the hey?

I doubt you would find a very big percentage of people anywhere that actually advocate that... Money being piled up in a scrooge McDuck money bin of some kind does damage to the economy.. Folks getting better paychecks and turning that money into goods and services that others of us produce and getting better paychecks for producing those goods and services makes for a stronger economy but I think you know that, I don't believe for a minute that folks like yourself and other hardliners here think the rich getting richer at the expense of the rest of us is good for our economy... If somebody's money pile is growing, somebody's is shrinking, I don't believe our government prints money for the sole purpose of making folks richer while the rest of us just stroll along un-affected by this.... Better paychecks are a much better stimulus to the economy than cheaper labor, cheaper and cheaper labor causes a domino effect and we find ourselves going in the wrong direction... The reference to financial resources 'piling up like manure' is a good analogy to whats happening.

I don’t remember saying its wrong having money but I will say if someone’s ‘money pile’ is growing and at the same time he has folks working for him/her at or close to minimum wage who has to depend on government assistance then he is part of the problem and I believe I might have said that in reference to “better paychecks”… If you have someone working for you at a low enough wage that he/she qualify for food stamps then you are indirectly benefiting from the food stamps program.

If the folks you speak of here are business owners and are not taking advantage of the food stamp program in as far as their employees are concerned then they are doing their part... Explain exactly where anyone takes money out of the economy except the government. When you or anyone else saves money, they don't bury it in the yard, they put it into the system. 401k, stock investments, real estate investments, etc. The more money the government takes, the less that's plugged into the economy. Simple huh?
