I watched the "where's my rod video". Here's a couple thoughts that may help. JMO. Not sharp shooting, opinions offered to advance the cause.
1. Given the general rule that products sell when they provide a solution to a customer need, I think the current video addresses the wrong need. The problem presented was a fishing rod lost but lack of attentiveness (your product addresses that), but even more importantly, the rod was lost because it was improperly mounted in the rod holder, the rod holder angle was not correct, and the combination did not prevent the rod from being lost.
Recommendation: Same style commercial, have the rod in the rod holder properly, good solid rod holder, and show the fish pulling so ard it finally overcame the rod holder, or the line breaking, or the rod getting pulled out due to clearly excessive force. As the rod was in the holder poorly, given the rod only took one or 2 small hits to go away, I doubt the guy could have heard the alarm, and gotten to the rod in time for the prodcut to have saved the loss. So clearly emphasis the benefit, rather than demonstrating the problem.
2. Is losing the rod the real reason to buy the product, or would a stronger buyer motivation being catching more fish? emphasis on maximizing return, vs minimizing regrets.
Recommendation. Video with 2 fisherman, one with Computerized rod set to detect light bites, and another fisherman with standard equipment. The fisherman with the computerized rod is shown detecting more bites and catching more fish.
3. What happens when this rod is used on a rocking boat? Do you really only want to appeal to bank fisherman?
Recommendation: Tell me the buyer if it will work on a boat, given the boat rocks and induces rod motion that might trigger a false alarm. Maybe show a boat with say 6 rods out, trolling live bait, in the dark, and says 3 rods getting hit, lighting up so I can quickly see what rod is in play, and sounding the alarm if I happen to be looking away from the rods at the time a strike occurs. If it works in both condition, tell me that, so you open additional markets.

Sorry about going off subject.
