Yes my pension check suffered a 2% that was a raise in insurace. Hurts just the same. As far as taxes, ANYONE who thinks you can balance a budget buy just cutting expenses, give it some thought. I could cut utility bills, use low watt bulbs, wear extra clothes,cook far less, limit vechicle use to only neccesary trips.Cut my cell phone usage, and a few things also. At the end of the month, I'd have a few bucks left. But then thinking I'm going to be doing this for a couple of years to pay for past expenditures, I'd hop into the truck, go down to the liquor store, and buy a gallon of pretty good booze. Because I know that as soon as I amass the cash, I'm going to need to spend a pile to protect it. Great way to live eh? Two constants Death and Taxes.Dont believe it, read the first few lines of Luke regarding Jesus.

Ah come on man. Your trying to justify your liberal feelings by giving up and saying you can't live on less. The gubment could cut alot of pork and programs and head in the proper direction but they choose not to. It's easier to get more and spend more than it is to cut back and spend less.

Now the hell do you imagined the fact that I also sent two kids to college, and paid for parochial education for 8 yrs for each of them?In many cases three jobs at a time, taking the bus to work so that the wife could use the only used car we had. We didn't have food stamps, free lunch programs. BUT we had an area where jobs were available, at decent wages. My wife wanted to work, but knew it was better to be a mother, not an extra wage earner.You guys say the country is going to hell! its been there, and in my opinion is not coming back.

Since 1960 24 yrs of democratic presidents. 36 years of republican presidents. How was nobahma able to screw it all up in 4 years. Maybe this great country built its foundation on sand.

Entitlements......

When you were raised, and in some respects when I was raised.........a handout would have never been taken.

My mom worked 3 jobs and sent me to school with a sack lunch all through high school. And I had oat meal or cereal or something of the such for breakfast every morning.

WE were not poor enough for free break fast or free lunch....even though we qualified. My mom was too proud to ever accept that stuff. AND that bled over to me. I better be half dead to throw in the towel and accept government assistance.

Now don't get me wrong......I'd completely be down with accepting everything DUE me if I needed it, but for the time being, I don't ever see me needing it.

Unfortunately with the values I was given, I VALUE hard work and work ethic very much. People who need it who cannot work and I SEE that way are justified in accepting it. I know lots of folks who accept assistance who genuinely need it. Likewise I've see a ton of folks who receive assistance who are CHEATS....and I cannot stand a cheat.

In fact, the cold hard facts of the matter are this.......I grew up UAW........big time UAW, and it is amazing how many of those folks have figured out how to CHEAT. Lots of them, can no longer "work" due to a disability, but it is amazing how much they can play. I've seen it and experienced it FIRST HAND. Those folks and folks like it disgust me....

Family functions with the Geo around are always interesting.......Folks on Disability playing softball.....or canoeing, or boating....or building decks.....YEA those folks can play hard, but certainly can NEVER work.....

Yes they should be looked at, and adjusted gradually. My mom was a depression child, and an abandoned mother of two, a "rosie the riveter". She knew hard times, But entitlements are not only for the poor. I'm for drug testing for welfare, I needed to do it as a term of my employment.Welfare mothers should be limited to two. Dead beat dads, garnishment or castration.Alcohol and drug addiction were not partof social security disability. I dont think we were eligible for long term unemployment payments, but we could find a job,that had livable wages. Folks think my social security check puts me in the lap of luxury, think again.I know folks who get minimum SS and they exist, not live. And I know first hand about disability payments to able bodied workers. I have also seen good christian farmers skirt the immigration laws so they could make a few extra sheckels, and then complain about health care and schooling for the problems some of them helped create. How many of you guys are right now walking on thin ice,littered with banana peels,and unaware of it.
