Me and three buddies are going to fish the southern end of Lake Guntersville in late march any tips or advice would be appreciated.
Me, my brother-in-law, and father went two years ago in early March, and me, my dad, and friend went last year in early March. What I learned is early March is tricky on Guntersville, the weather changes like crazy there. Both times we went, we was expecting nice warm weather and cold fronts came through both times. The fish shut down during cold fronts, or at least for the average person who shows up and doesn't know where to find them. Once the front went by though, the bite was awesome fast. I did find that we all three liked the lake best around, North Sauty, and South Sauty the best. We also discovered Crappie fishing the cause ways was awesome and fun when the bass shut down. We caught more fish in South Sauty than anywhere. But the lake offers so much variety you can find different things to like. We have decided to go late May this year. March always has to many weather surprises. It was 40 degrees one day and 75 the next. Try xcaliber rattle baits in Ray Burn red, we did real well off flats with grass using them. Just burn them across, if the bass are biting they will destroy them. Hope this helps. Don't get discouraged either, if you aint catching none, try another spot.
