Tim, sometimes I think that you would eat a fried turd....lol just kiddin. I always look forward to KY Afield on Saturdays and then again on Sunday. My favorites are smallmouth fishing on Dale, Cumberland and Laurel. Thanks for the advice and good entertainment.

Welcome to the forum Tim. I met you a few years back at the boat show in Louisville and you signed and personalized your photo to my Dad. You also chatted with my husband and me for a few minutes about mushroom hunting. When I gave my Dad your autographed photo back home in Alabama he looked at it and said "Now who's that boy?" After I briefed him a little about you and your show it must have aroused his curiosity a little and he watched a few of your youtube videos and I'd record Ky Afield and send him copies of the show. He must have liked you because he later said "That ole boy seems like he's all right." Coming from a guy that sometimes struggled not to be an overprotective Dad and also considering I'm his only daughter, that is the ultimate complement. I lost him a couple of years back but when I watch your show it makes me remember him. Thank you so much for that personalized autograph, that short amount of your time made a forever memory for me.

Regarding Dave Shuffett, I've had conservations with Dave (AKA Mudcat around here) on multiple occasions. He is a very kind person, a gentleman through and through as well as a very intelligent individual. Because of Mudcat I am a fan of Kentucky Life too. As an Alabama native I will also say that Kentucky is very fortunate to have both Tim and Dave as ambassadors.

Does anyone know the mans name that hosted Ky Afield before Dave? According to what I understand, Dave had to step into some very large shoes when he started hosting the show.

    He absolutely did.

Hope Carleton is a KY outdoors legend and hosted KY Afield from 1957-1980. I knew him a little bit through a classmate of mine. He was just as he seemed on camera. Friendly, a little rough around the edges, but always a great conversationalist.

I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who sat in front of the TV on saturday morning and watched fishing shows instead of cartoons as a kid

I remember watching Hope at my grandfather's house in Louisville when we would visit him on Brown's Lane, never dreaming I would be lucky enough to have this once in a lifetime job! Funny how life shuts doors and opens others....See you on the water!!! Tim
