    Casting Rods

I would go with GLoomis if I was going to upgrade. If you want cheaper; I love Shimano. For all purpose I would probably stay with something Medium Heavy and Fast or Medium Fast Action.

I have been looking at shimano. I have heard a lot of people say good things about them and the warranty seems excellent, which is a big plus cause I am pretty hard on equipment. Nothing against loomis or garcia. I think a mh with a fast tip and a mh with a mod fast tip should cover everything. Having a little bit of trouble finding a mh/medfast tip. Going to BPS and put my hands on one before I deciede. If I like it i'll probaly order from tackle warehouse cause recently BPS customer service *****.

The new Shimano Cruicials will give you the best bang for the buck....If you can find one of the older 7'2MH extra fast cumara rods, they're the best all around rod I've ever had.....Personally, I'd stay away from the Veritas...I've had several friends to get them and every single one of them have broke...Some have even broke on the cast...If you happen to break a Shimano it's an over the counter warranty, or if you dont have a place close you can cut it in half and **** it back to them and they'll have you a new one in a week....Their warranty can't be touched

As you are looking at rods, I would keep in mind that there will be a difference in the power and actions of rods produced by different companies, which would appear to be the same. To me the action of the Shimano rods seems to be less than other companies. That's not good or bad, just what I perceive. If I were going to buy a new bottom contact rod right now, it would be a Shimano Crucial. I believe they are the best rods in their class. As far as a power fishing rod for cranks and the like, I have a hard time justifying spending a whole lot on a rod where the fish are going to simply load up on it. With that said, I'd go with 1 medium with moderate action and 1 medium heavy fast action. It's kind of tough for me to comment on this subject because I will use multiple different power and action rods for each style of fishing that you have described. Deep, medium, and shallow cranking, size and weight of baits, open water vs. tight quarters, etc. Anyway, my 2 cents.

I do the same; a rod for each application. But I do have a couple rods that though not ideal for a specific application; will work adequately for multiple applications. As for Shimano; I prefer Crucial but hear great things about Cumara and may try one someday. And the life time warranty is great; especially if you are hard on your rods.
