Winter Creek smallmouth fishing in NKY?

This is my first winter here in Northern KY. How is the creek smallie fishing in the winter? Is there open water? Where is the best place to walk and wade? I'm in Union and have only fished Gunpowdwr creek this past summer and fall.

Elkhorn Creek. A lot of the Creek is deep, but you can wade many areas too. Best spot is between Georgetown/frankfort and Owenton. Don't know if I would want to wade it this time of year... BRRRRRRRR.
