I tried to air out the motel room, but when we checked out the owner noticed and asked what happened.

I didn't want to admit it was the way I hoped to clean and dry my wet sock, so I just siad I accidentally burned a bag a popcorn. (the odor is remarkably the same......try it!)

The owner smiled and noted he saw the microwave was well cleaned, sympathized with me for missing a snack, and encouraged me to come and stay again, especially if I decided to bring more than one pair of socks to a 3 day fishing trip.
