Oh man I don't think it's a gaffe.....
I wondered why he was stating the obvious and then it came to me....Maybe its their way of setting the stage of never being told they wasted their time with new legislation? They came across hard with their gun control opinions at first but I think they are finding out from all the opinions, facts and discussions that they will look foolish if they get their way on this legislation and (WHEN) another shooting occurs.
Emotions are dying down on this topic and that's how it works...they beat the drum until you get numb to it and then they just pass what they want. I just don't think it was a gaffe, I really think it was a planned oops to insure they have an out no matter what happens with the bill.
I still think Biden is nuts but a smart leader/boss can use his reputation of loose lips and mental hiccups to his advantage.

#1 goal is universal background, OOPS , i mean universal gun registration! They would never mention awb's or mag limits again if they could pass universal background checks.

They would then have universal registration which has been the goal forever, even before the popularity of ar15s. Gun registration will lead to confiscation, even if it's one at a time. I think this was their plan all along, shoot for the moon and then "compromise" with UNIVERSAL REGISTRATION (universal background checks).

Reuters has a poll out saying that 90% support universal background checks, saw a few saying 74% of nra members.
Sound like the shenanigans from the campaign yet? No freakin way either one of those polls are correct or unbiased
