    debate over

ok so thanks to a friend of mine i think i can finally put this debate to rest and quit sounding like an idiot.......a little unknown on my part, but never the less.......the lake im referring to is doe valley lake...or as i've always called it "doe run".....i've always known it by those two names not knowing that there is actually a smaller 30 acre lake also in fact named "doe run" i was told located somewhere around kenton??? not for sure, but i've never been to that lake.....so in fact i've been debating and taking a stand on a lake that im sure most of you are not even talking about............BUT, if there are any doubts about the bass at doe VALLEY lake.......well there's the pics to prove that lol. (minus the third shot, it was in the mix with other photos and i believe that one actually came out of rough).

Although I have never caught any Crappie or targeted them, I have caught many largemouth out of Doe Run. It took a while to figure the lake out but once I did the catching became more frequent. My PB is just over 5lbs and my buddie caught one right at 6 lbs. In the spring or fall it's fairly common to catch a few 3-5 lb fish. Not sure if the lake holds any monster fish but like I said I have seen a 6 pounder. Big fat balsa wood shallow diving crankbaits around brush piles and lay down timber in the back right part of the lake works well.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Sorry it took so long to get back to ya I just came off of a long 12 10hr day stretch at work so I didn't have much time to make it to the computer. I'm not giving up on the bass just yet. I had a chance to go there and check it out at winter pool and I've scouted out some potential honey holes. Hopefully 2013 will be a different year for me. I was just wanting to change it up a bit though and try for the crappie in doe run. I live pretty close to this lake so it's pretty convenient for me to fish there.

I made it up to Bass Pro a little while ago and actually purchased a FishTV. It's an underwater video camera attached to a little 5 inch black/white monitor. I plan on taking that out in my little jon boat and checking things out. I've heard so many stories about this lake having some monsters in it. Anything from 15" crappie to 50lb channel cats and my favorite 6-8lb largemouth. It's a good size lake and from the times I've fished there it doesn't seem like its too overly pressured. Honestly it seems like its more forgotten than anything with all the trash and stuff that floats around that place. So I would think it has good potential. Like I said though it's been pretty humbling so far. Once it warms up a bit I'll be back out there. I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks again!

Keep us updated please. I live less than 5 miles from there, it would be easy to get over and wet a line. Wish it was a bit more friendly fishing the lake from the bank though.

I agree it's nearly impossible to cover any water fishing from the bank there. That is unless you stick to the dam but there's so much debris around there with all the trash and tree limbs that throwing any artificial lures other than topwater is pretty frustrating.

Ive seriously thought about going to the county and seeing if I could get some sort of cleaning project started on that lake.

Doe Valley lake outside of Brandenburg is a nice lake. The problem is in order to fish it you have to be a property owner and pay a yearly fee to fish it. It has some big fish in it if you get a friend that lives there and you go out and fish with them

Yes there are lots of Docks on Doe Valley Lake. Marina Just google the lake, outside Brandenburg, hit maps and do a satelite view. There is no bridge in the pciture, your seeing his followed bimini top partially block the bridge enbutments under highway 933/Olin road that runs passed the end of the north part of the lake at the dam spillway.

And yes, I have personally seen 6-7 pound largemeouth come out of that lake, tons of crappie, and tons of white bass during times I fished in tourneys there.
