Les I agree whole hearted, shimano makes a real nice rod as do many others.gotta go with what works for each person.some of these rods are outta my price range and too many good 100 rods.
I simply will not break the bank to fish. I try to spend less than $100.00 per rod which is why I bought 2 of the Shimano Clarus rods for $145.00 to my door & I've fished them for several years with very good luck. I also fish Diawa Excellors, Bass Pro Shops Extremes or Pro Qualifier reels mostly. I like the feel of the Halos & also like the Diesel series & another in the same price range I like is the Denali Jadewood rods although just a little higher than the other two. I have faith in my Shimanos as well, but will probably buy one of each of the 3 series mentioned to fish this summer & then sell the ones that I don't like as much. Fishing is very expensive nowadays & if I have to break the bank a little bit it will be on boat gas. Although not completely 100%voluntarily lol
